no resources would be needed if they automate the process, which is more or less trivial compared to the effort needed to create this format.

I fail to see how randomly generating a new deck each day takes any resources whatsoever. There are literally no other resources that could be consumed by doing this - if I'm wrong please let me know.

You're not wrong. Not even generating random decks for every match would consume a lot of resources.

I believe changing decks probably requires a game update.... the same as changing tournament map rotations. Anyway, how many teams of 4 are gonna want to sit down and sift through 80 different skills to put together 4 builds before they can play on any given day? That would be asinine. It would take longer and be more of a pain to get a 4v4 team together than it is to do 8v8 and pick-up groups would be impossible. THAT IS ... if they use the traditional sealed deck rules posted on GWW. They could have a modified (more streamlined) sealed deck format for 4v4 that I haven't seen yet. I think 1 week is a good amount of time for people to do some experimentation with the current deck and gain some level of proficiency with a build without having anything ruling the roost.

I seriously doubt Anet is going to put out a new build every week just to change the deck in Sealed. I would imagine it's automated. As Moriz mentioned, this would be trivial in comparison to the rest of the work likely to have taken place implementing sealed.
As for build creation, yes - it's probably going to be slightly time consuming. But decent players are going to immediately pick up on good skills and common attribute lines. Creating and loading up a teambuild for 4 guys should probably not take more than 15 minutes at most - and compared to the 1hour+ I've seen some guilds take to roll up recently this is nothing. An extra couple minutes after each match/loss/whatever to tweak and swap out skills is pretty negligible also. Anyone having to completely change builds multiple times in a day is doing something wrong and probably deserves to waste their own time.
In any case, this is still more time efficient than forming up in TA to farm RA spillovers once every 20 timer resets.

or farming rank 1000+ guilds in gvg (well, or just never finding an opposing team) and directly landing in HoH after 1st map HA.
dont think you made ANY point whatsoever against TA with that, because if u believe u did, then anet ought to remove HA and gvg too according to that faulted logic, because - guess what - those arenas too are empty during dead hours.

Based off the information on Linsey's GWW page, they are changing the SD rules to make forming PUGs easier. I also read that you could still pick up singles if you have a drop. If this is actually the case, I would assume they are probably going to do away with skill pooling.

I wasn't intending to knock TA - I was simply saying that you're going to be building sealed bars for 15 minutes, followed by instamatches. At least for the first couple of months.
The problem isn't specific to TA. GvG wait times can be >20 minutes not including form up time during peak hours now. HoH skips are common now too, but at least unless it's dead hour you actually spend most of your time playing rather than waiting for matches.

My predictions based entirely on Linsey's Journal, reading countless discussions on the matter, and listening to the voices in my head:
Entering SD will open a UI, giving each team member 20 skills to chose from to form a build.
or
Joining a team will open a UI with 80 pooled skills cards for the entire team with each skill card disappearing for everyone when someone adds it to their bar.
The voices in my head are sure they will keep the list of core skills that they use in traditional SD (ie. Res Signet), but they aren't sure if they will keep the Wildcard skill clause.
Other than that, I expect it to be exactly like TA

the voices in my head tells me that you require medication. they also tell me that the voices in your head are a bad bunch, and they will soon compel you to do evil things.

Sorry if someones already suggested this (I didn't wanna take the time to read all of this thread....)
What if there was a skill set for the day and you can only have one build per that day. Like one day you make a build for one character and you can't change it after playing. That would prevent the copying of builds in SD

No. You're trying to take away the freedom of tweaking builds because of the assumption that people who tweak their builds copy others.

I think that's the sort of thing that can only be sorted out with time. People like to tweak builds, but if that becomes a slowdown to getting into a match, then Anet always have the option of reducing the number of skills to choose from at a later date. I think we need to see how it takes off, and submit feedback.

The voices in my head told me the same thing. However, if there is a new deck for every game ppl just leave until they roll a WoH/dev hammer/etc. So just be glad the voices did not take control of Linsey.
Nice update. Finally pvp is getting a little love.

PTQ's and GP's are all drafts.
Sealed is rarely a competitive format. Though, in Guild Wars, it can be, since it's a lot easier to let two teams add the same skills to the bar than it is in MTG to have 2 copies of each card to give to individual players.
